Introduction

In 1969 the magazine Miniature Warfare published an article called the Hyper Miniature System which described the use of quarter inch woodscrews as soldiers for war gaming. I was very interested in this concept and over the next few years I experimented and ended up with the beginnings of the army I possess today. I made a number of changes to the original ideas including for example, using half inch screws and drawing pins as wheels for vehicles. Although I have never been overly interested in war gaming as such I have always been attracted to the idea of a huge army with all the development, management and organisation that having thousands of soldiers creates. In particular I am very interested in the logistical issues that confronted armies of the late 1800s. My army is broadly based around 1900 but I do employ some latitude in order to use equipment that interests me. The structure of the army is based on a number of historical references but is essentially my own creation. All the vehicles I have are based on a real historical reference but again with an element of latitude in the exact timelines. As the army is for my entertainment I make no apologies. For many years I have constructed the army in contented solitude but finally decided to go public so to speak to see if by any chance there may be others out there who would be interested in my doings or maybe even be inspired to create something similar, hence this blog. If you visit this blog please leave a comment, I am genuinely interested in ALL views.
